A FRESH START (AND NEW WEBSITE!)

So here it is - my brand new website! I decided it deserved a little space in the news section to explain why I went for a refresh and why this feels like the start of something new.

I’ve reached that point in life where one child’s off working, the other’s in college, and suddenly there’s this question: what now? Am I serious about making art? Am I actually any good? So I’ve set myself a challenge. From the day this new site launches, I’m giving myself a year to put my energy into my art - to enjoy it, but also treat it like a job, not just a hobby.

I don’t want to go back into graphic design full-time (as much as I enjoy the projects and the people). What really gives me a buzz is selling a piece of art and seeing someone connect with it - so I’m going to give that my focus.

I even asked a friend recently, “Is that it? Have I already peaked?” (Can I say that here?) “When did that happen - and did I miss it?”

My friends will tell you I’m always busy, always working on something, but I don’t always see my achievements the way they do.

So, I’ve decided to take the leap and bring in the experts. I’ve teamed up with David and his team at Headvibe to create a super-sleek website that really reflects who I am - both as a person and an artist. The brief was simple: clean design, lots of white space, simple fonts, and everything perfectly aligned (I’m a stickler for straight lines!).

I originally built my old website on Wix about five years ago, and while it did the job, I was constantly tweaking things, breaking links, and - honestly - losing interest. When I spoke to David, he suggested moving to Shopify, so people can buy my work directly. It made total sense.

After that, I handed over my passwords, gathered up all my images (a very long process), threw together some text (an even longer process), and passed the baton. I thought I had around 30 products to feature - turns out it was more like 100!

So here it is: my new site, my fresh start, and my year of taking art seriously. Let’s see where it goes.
